About Me

Hello! My name is Emma Fan and I am a 21-year-old Canadian-Chinese (Hong Kong) illustrator based in Toronto, Canada. I loved drawing since I was young and in middle school, I decided that I would take art more seriously. Eventually, I would pursue my dream of attending OCAD University as an Illustration student. Over the past few years, I have been able to explore various mediums and styles along with improving my technical and creative skills.

Most of my work is digital, however I also enjoy working traditionally with watercolour, acrylic, and pencil crayons. My palettes tend to range from either soft, pastel colours, to darker Gothic-inspired colours.

While I do like to draw human and pet portraits, I particularly enjoy drawing anything aesthetically related to the Victorian era. What interests me most is the fashion of this era and the Japanese subculture that followed (Lolita style) - I love the details of such elaborate clothing; featuring corsets, hoop skirts, and intricate lace. As I am inspired by these designs, I enjoy incorporating the aesthetics in my pieces when appropriate.
